– For your consideration is this vintage 1968 Martin D-28 dreadnought acoustic guitar with non-original hard case and the original hangtag.
– This wonderful sounding all original example, serial number 224107, is absolutely crack fee and features stunning Brazilian rosewood back and sides.
– Well-preserved in near impeccable cosmetic condition, this extremely fine black guard Brazilian rosewood D-28 is just about as nice as they come. It does display random case wear, most certainly acquired from simply removing it from and inserting into the case. Otherwise, there’s very little evidence of actual playing wear.
– The guitar is in perfect structural condition, with no breaks, no cracks, and no repairs of any kind. There is a very small mineral stain in the top where one’s right arm would rest while strumming, which is under the original finish. (Black light photos available.)
– The blue thermoplastic ‘Steal Me’ case is likely original to the guitar, but not appropriate for the era. It suggests it was mated with the guitar when sold, possibly in ’71.
– The Brazilian rosewood back and sides are beautiful, albeit uneventful. Some suggest that the straighter less-nuanced grain supports a better tone profile.
– Neck measurements: 1.680″ nut width, .848″ depth at 1st fret, 1.047″ depth at 12th fret
– String height/action measurements: .045″ low-E at 1st fret, .100″ low-E at 12th fret
