1958 Fender Stratocaster Electric Guitar Body – Late ’58 to Early ’59 Vintage Faded 3-Tone Sunburst 1959 Strat Body w/ Original Finish

– For your consideration is this vintage 1958/1959 Fender Stratocaster sunburst electric guitar body in what appears to be a faded 3-tone sunburst finish.
– With a quintessential ’50s 2-tone sunburst appearance, which is completely covered in handsome weather checking accompanied by attractive authentic playing wear in all the right places, this original alder Strat body is the “Relic” archetype.
– This body was separated from its original corresponding ’56 Strat neck, and other miscellaneous original parts, as the majority of the guitar suffered from a series of modifications and non-original components which influenced our decision to “part it out” and offer the resulting pieces individually.
– When fully assembled, this body presents as 100% original with its original nitroceullose lacquer finish. However, with the pickguard and back plate removed, several issues are revealed. Firstly, a later 11-screw pickguard was installed, resulting in several extra screw holes. A silver shielding paint was sprayed wihtin the pickup, output jack, and trem cavities, over which a layer of clear coat was applied. Lastly, the neck pocket was lightly sanded to presumably make for a more even surface with which the neck could more evenly rest. (The neck’s heel was also delicately sanded to make the finish as smooth as possible.) Originally, it was fully painted with no paint stick shadow as is the appropriate method in ’58/’59, as the body has nail holes which were used for finishing.
– A small area was tested in the middle pickup cavity for removal of the shielding paint, exposing original finish under the faded silver paint. A guitar restoration expert may have a method which could successfully remove the non-original paint in a way that preserved the original finish underneath.
– The body weighs 3.6 lbs.
