– For your consideration is this vintage 1973 ARP Pro Soloist Model 2701 vintage monophonic analog synthesizer.
– This particular example, serial number 273869, includes an era appropriate hard case, and was acquired from the Indigo Ranch studio collection. (More on Indigo below.)
– Famous for its 30 presets, this smaller 37-key 3-octave synth was intended to sit atop a larger organ or keyboard.
– A successor to the Soloist Model 2700, the after-touch feature of the 2701 makes it a very expressive instrument with a unique personality.
– It is missing 1 of the 4 square slider caps, as well as, the sheet music stand bracket which mounts on top of the keyboard.
– Works great and sounds fantastic, though it could use a typical light service and key calibration.
– Indigo Ranch, nestled on 60-acres in the hills of Malibu, California, operated from 1974 until 2006, under the guidance and obsessions of Richard Kaplan.
Clients took advantage of his meticulously built studio, hundreds of effects pedals, 400 guitar amps, and rare Aengus console. Artists as diverse as Neil Young, Neil Diamond, Olivia Newton John, Jeff Lorber, Korn, Sepultura, and Limp Bizkit all made albums at Indigo Ranch. Vice published an article on how Indigo became the “improbable birthplace of Nu-Metal,” and Tape-Op Magazine interviewed Richard Kaplan, Ross Robinson, and others about the numerous important albums made at Indigo Ranch over the many decades it actively changed the landscape of both music and culture. – GEARLORD
